Join us as a Community Housing Adviser and work directly with our service users across 3 areas of Birmingham.

About you
You will be an effective communicator who is keen to make a difference in the lives of our service users. You will also:

  •          Have demonstrable experience working with service users to provide advice on housing issues, advocating confidently for them
  •          Be skilled in working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, with the ability to develop effective working relationships and communicate information clearly
  •          The ability to offer service improvement suggestions, challenging ideas and viewpoints appropriately where necessary for an effective service function
  •          Have experience of developing case plans and carrying out risk assessments

 

About the role and team

Working as part of a team of specialist Advisers, you will provide advice, support and guidance to service users and service providers in 3 areas of Birmingham – Sparkhill, Erdington and Handsworth – with a focus on preventing homelessness, increasing knowledge and practice, and campaigning for better housing standards. You will be working closely with individuals with lived experience on the service design and delivery and advocating on behalf of service users and their housing rights.

This will be achieved by working in partnership with colleagues and other specialised agencies as determined by client needs. Working as part of a wider Advice Team, you will benefit from the expertise of colleagues, volunteers and stakeholders. The role is based at our City Centre Hub but will involve regular work in the areas identified above.
